5th Aligkari Run 2023: An Impressive Sporting Event in the Mount Paiko

The most exhilarating sports event in the region is back for its fifth consecutive year! The 5th Aligkari Run 2023 is scheduled to take place on November 26, 2023, in the vast meadows of Mount Paiko, promising an exciting experience for athletes of all ages.

This event features four different race routes, as well as a race for children, offering something for every level of athleticism:

• 20 km Cross Country Run

  This route winds through the forests of Mount Paiko and parts of the village, providing ideal conditions for a fast-paced run.

• 10 km Mountain Run

  An ideal course for beginners in mountain running, without significant elevation challenges.

• 5 km Village Run

  A route suitable for all ages, passing through the picturesque village.

• 500 m Junior Run

  For children aged 5-9 years, a beautiful 500-meter course awaits the young runners.

The Aligkari Run embodies the spirit of running, movement, and energy. It’s a tradition for the Vlach community residing in the Great Meadows, an area known for its exceptional beauty and natural environment.

“Megala Livadia” of Mount Paiko are situated at an altitude of 1,200 meters and are one of the highest villages in Macedonia. The village is also known as “Megalo Livadi” and is just 28 kilometers from Goumenissa and 24 kilometers from Grevena.

For access to “Megala Livadia”, you can use the national roads E75 and E86, heading towards Goumenissa and Grevena.
